Be it critics or be it audience, ‘Skyfall’ has been liked by one and all alike. Everybody has been enthralled by the characters and the plot of the movie. This is the reason why it has become the most successful Bond film of all time. The movie has topped the revenue charts by earning £100m in British cinemas and around $1b around the globe. This is the first movie to earn this much so far.
Till now, ‘Avatar’ was named as the highest grossing movie. But now, ‘Skyfall’ has broken the records of ‘Avatar’ which earned around £94m in a year. ‘Skyfall’ broke the records of ‘Avatar’ in just 40 days. It seems that it was very easy for ‘Skyfall’ to break the billion dollar record of Avatar. The other movies which smashed the sale of $1b in 2012 were ‘The Avengers’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.
It has also been believed that the sales numbers can be misleading as the inflation has been rising at an alarming rate. If sales numbers are not taken into consideration, then it is believed that other Bond movies seem to be more successful.
There have been many old movies which have sold the maximum number of tickets like ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves'(1938) sold 38 million tickets, ‘The Sound of Music'(1965) sold 30 million tickets and ‘Gone With the Wind'(1940) sold 35 million tickets. The time at which these tickets were sold, it amounted to around two-thirds of the population.
