Craig Ferguson, the Late Late Show host, told his studio audience during Monday’s taping of the show that he will be leaving the talk show in December.
Ferguson’s announcement came weeks after David Letterman, host of CBS’ othe Late Show, announced that he will be retiring next year. Letterman’s Worldwide Pants are the producers of Fergusons show and Ferguson was reportedly promised Letterman’s spot once he left the show.
CBS hired Stephen Colbert instead of Ferguson just one week after the announcement was made about Letterman leaving the show and Ferguson was not considered a candidate for the opening. Ferguson has since announced that he will be leaving the show at the end of his contract which ends at the close of this year.
Craig Ferguson, a Scottish actor and writer, was known to American audiences for playing Nigel Wick on The Drew Carey Show. Craig and Drew, who host’s CBS’ the price is right, traded hosting duties on April 1 as a prank.
