The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a massive opening day start of $91 million at the box office and two weeks after the released the movie has held on to a steady second place with $2.90 million earnings at the box office.
The expensive 3D superhero sequel by Sony has now surpassed the $150 domestic earnings mark on the box office and was up 29% over Monday. The twelve-day of the $153 million has placed the movie 1% ahead of the $151 million twelve-day take of last year’s Thor: The Dark World and 9% behind the recent $169 million twelve day gross of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The sequel has created massive buzz on social media as the lastest figures on Facebook indicate that the movie has an estimated 10,373,762 ‘Likes’ and the average tweets about the movie range around 4,000 with a postive to negative ratio of 3:1.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has now made gross earnings of $556,429,874, and the IMAX earnings for the movie have been totaled out to be $38 million worldwide.
