300: rise of an empire does well at box office

The sequel to the Warner Bro’s ‘300’ which was released in cinemas around the globe last Friday has made a domestic debut of $45.1 million and an international debut of $87.8 million making it the biggest blockbuster of the week after the oscars. Warner Bros 300, which was released seven years ago, made headlines across the world with the weekend domestic earning of $70.1 million, the sequel is yet to cross that mark but critics predict that the added 3D effect will make the movie one of the highest grossers this year. While blood and battle are the main elements of the man-centric movie, the presence of Eva Green drew some female audience towards the movie as well with an increase of 9 percent female audience for the sequel that the original ‘300’. 300: Rise of an Empire, the sequel to the Warner Bros original 300, directed by Noam Murro follows the Greeks attempt to stop the mortal-turned-god Xerxes and his vast persian army from taking over their land. Led by the Greek general Themistocles, the army of Athens is forced to form an alliance with their traditional rivals, Sparta, in order to fight their common enemy.
